What is retouching? You hear this term at a lot of photo/portrait studios and randomly on the internet. But what is it?
If you only have a point and shoot camera and have the 'auto' setting set then this probably will apply for you. The 'auto' setting takes a best guess on the proper exposure and white balance. "huh?" Well a lot of times it guesses wrong and the photo comes out with an ugly blue cast, the subjects are real dark and grainy, the background is blown out or the background is in focus but the subjects are blurred. Sound familiar? And so much more can go wrong.
Then there are the physical issues that can be a problem such as: distracting objects in the way, stray hairs due to a windy day, one too many pimples, glass glares, bra strap exposed, shirt is too low, oh the yellow teeth! There is also the more personal such as being self concious of our personal image, our perception of beauty. I am guilty of that myself. I can trim the physique, add makeup, make eyes bright and skin glow. This will definitely help you feel a tad better about yourself. So what of it? Yes this means that using my special software, years of experience and skill that all of that can be fixed! No more darkness, no more noisy grain, that cloudy day can be turned to sky, and that muffin top can be reduced. Who says you have to settle for a blah photo? Make it blow your mind! Make it beautifully pleasant! Lastly there's the embellishments. Oh you can't just stop at fixing the colors and removing a pimple or two! What I enjoy doing is making an artwork of your photo! Add a special coloring, special effects that blow your mind and then some! That beautiful burgandy theme and the lovely Sepia blend I discovered myself. Add graphics like pixie dust for the kids, stars, swirls and more! There are so much that can be done! This is my world. I hope you enjoy the experience. |
