Wonderful things in life happen that makes us better like those special people in our lives who enrich us, strengthen us, make us happy who we have our fondest memories.
Sadly the inevitable occurs and they pass away. To honor those beloved, you desire to host a Celebration of Life memorial service. Many have a part in putting together this special service. This post is for the ones who are putting together beautiful artistic displays such as; slideshow, movie, photo collages, photo albums, scrap books, memorial program and more.......
So now you're going through hundreds of photos, some new and some old. Really old. Really old and damaged. Maybe you only have just a few prints. Or the most memorable photo has scratches, stains, faded and dull. You can choose to use the print for the collage as is or you can take advantage of the wonderful service of Photo Restoration for those precious prints.
When using my Restoration Service there is no risk to damaging or losing that precious print in transit. You will be scanning it yourself and emailing me a digital copy for me to work on. You will receive the new digital file of the photo for you to print! Check out the tips on how to scan those prints here. Celebrating my grandmother and aunt's life through special photos
Recently my husband's Grandmother and Aunt passed away. Since it happened so close together, the memorial service was arranged to celebrate both of them at the same time. I was given a wonderful project of restoring some of their old and worn prints. Using my in-law's printer/scanner I was able to scan batches of prints at a time. The scanner I used actually was able to save each print separately. It's ok If your scanner doesn't do that because I can separate the images for you.
Restored photos of Granny Mae
Above you see some of the photos I've restored. This will give you an idea on what can be done for your photos.
Colors will be corrected, especially if they have a terrible blue or orange cast to them. How about the distracting elements like the half naked man in the blue cast photo? I'm sure everyone at the memorial service appreciated not seeing him during their slideshow. Lastly, I was given a special request to restore the photo of Granny's Husband, Virgil. We know him as Pa-Pa. They wanted me to crop out Pa-Pa alone which require me to create his right arm. Not a problem. From removing dust specks, splotches to creating detail again in faces, photo restoration is the way to truly shine your slideshow and photo collage bringing back wonderful memories to everyone. Designing the program
I happen to have a degree in Graphic Design even though I focused in Digital Imaging aka Photo Retouching. I have some sense of design awareness. The family allowed me to design their memorial program which was a true blessing for me to give to them. Before I began designing I did a little research on google to get ideas. Most I found were very dull and plain. None screamed out "Fun and fancy free Granny Mae and Aunt Glenna!" They were wonderful and lively women.
Granny Mae loved her husband, God, family, church family. Not necessarily in that order. She sang gospel songs, handmade crafts, cooked southern food and cut up a rug with Pa-Pa in the living room. *wink*. Aunt Glenna was full of life and love. So I made the program to reflect Granny Mae and Aunt Glenna's personality, complete with fabric and lace edging. Pa-Pa and everyone loved it. Custom Graphic Design - Memorial Programs
I know I don't officially offer a Graphic Design Specialty but should you need help with putting together a lovely program for your precious memorial service I will gladly offer a custom design service just for you.
A design that more closely matches your beloved's personality. Head on over to the quote page and let's discuss your ideas. Another samples of my design is the memorial service card (shown above) I've designed in honor of my baby boy Micah who passed away in 2010. Memorial service photos of Granny Mae and Aunt Glenna
These are just some photos that went into the slideshow. Below is the photo book I made of Granny Mae and Pa-Pa's 60th wedding anniversary celebration which I photographed of course. I left out a few pages for privacy reasons. I hope this helps give you ideas on what to photograph when at a celebration.
