Family Photo enlargement prep

How many of you had family photo sessions done, either by a friend or an amateur professional photographer and certain mishaps happen like the following; it turned out a little dark, the colors look a little drab, the feet are almost cut off from the bottom and of course the glasses glare.

These were noticed by the wife and myself when I saw these photos. They are great photos with great potential. Check out what was done below to make these photos, especially the family shot, enlargement ready.

The main concern was the glasses glare on the father. Then I noticed how close their feet were to the bottom of the photo. This would cause a concern when printing. Most printers end up cutting off a tiny bit of the photo for bleeds. And of course there is mounting and framing that would cut off even more. Then the feet are missing. So in this case here I added more photo to the bottom by adding a "Step". Like it? The wife got a kick out of that. ha. This way there's room to play with when printing and framing.

The couple photo shot of mother and father turned out real dark and gloom. So I gave it life.
I removed a couple of her blemishes which she appreciated very much. And the small injury on his hand. No sense on leaving that there since it's just a boo boo right?

Furthermore, I boosted the lovely blues and other colors and gave some pop as well.
I've enjoyed editing these photos for this family and am thrilled I was given the permission to showcase them on my website.

You can get this privilege too! Message me and let's talk about your family photo you'd like some magical touches too.

    About KAT

My philosophy is that photography should lighten up the heart and the eyes with vibrant color, light and majesty as memories flood back into the mind and soul. No cringing allowed. Only magic!
I'm a stay at home mom of our little girl! Photo retouching and restoration have always been my passion since the 1990's. When I'm not retouching I take care of my little girl, my husband, follow God and spend time with His people. All while listening to music all the time. ;-) I also enjoy playing the piano, learning to sew, eat Thai food,  lifting weights, singing hymns and trying to make my house a home.  Read more...
