Dream wedding photo makeover

So you had an amateur photographer for your wedding. Or simply that your favorite photo didn't come out right like the lighting shifted due to clouds or the sun, your best pose/smile/look was not at the ideal location, or someone ran into the frame at the same time. Whatever the case may be, the point is, when you look at your photo, you're not happy.
My mother remarried back when I was in college studying to be a Digital Imagist aka Photo Retoucher. I've learned photography and had a job with the College's newspaper as a Photo Journalist. (That sounds so cool doesn't it?)
I was so excited about this new photography skill and having the means to borrow a professional camera I asked my mother to be her photographer. What does she say? "Of course!"
Little did I know that it takes more than a pro camera to take stunning wedding photos. I was still so new that I totally missed that special Newly Wed couple pose of magic. The best one they like is...well...you can see below...Just you wait to see how it comes out in the end!

Not the dreamiest of photos is it? (My mother is so beautiful isn't she?)
Over the years I've sent her edited photos of her wedding. She is always my biggest fan when it comes to digital magic to any photo. (Got to love moms right?) But as the years went by (13 as of this year) my editing skills have improved. You don't acquire editing finesse overnight. So this year she wanted an official magified photo of her husband and herself that she can proudly hang on the wall. She's the all glam type of lady.
Here's what she requested:
Would you please remove the plates and the bells from the table?- mom
Picture
Sure thing! That would mean recreating or replacing his hand. The background was ugly so I duplicated the lattice to expand the entire background and colored it.
And obviously I gave it a halo glow because I know she'd like it.
Hi hijita, would it be possible to remove the cake from the picture? And maybe also cut off the table?.  Thank you love😍 - mom
LOL Do you know why mom is asking me this? Because she knows I CAN. Such faith my mother has of me. Real sweet and humbling too. So here I go....remove the cake and table. She said I can remove the background too and leave them isolated.
OK, I'll play with the idea. Check this out...

My mother LOVES roses. So I used a photo of a rose I took for her mother's day pillow, and used it on this photo. I used her body from a pose from another photo and transplanted it here. Then I decided to make some variations so she has options in case she liked a style better than others.
Wow Kathy that's amazing! I love all of them it's just fantastic! This is such an amazing work. Magical! Unbelievable! - remarks made by mom over the phone
Yes she loved them! But then she was curious (she must have some type of artist eye too!) she wondered what it would look like without the roses. Ok, sure, maybe the roses may have been much. Maybe. :) She wanted to know what it would look like with just the heart swirls in the back. So here it is.

Hi Kathy, Wow!!!! The pictures are fantastic!!!. You are magical!!!! What a fantastic work!  Amazing! I don't have enough words to thank you for such a terrific, beautiful work. Thank you, thank you so much and may God bless you!!!! - mom's actual testimonial
I'm so glad I can make my mother happy. She deserves it. Even more so considering her days are shorter than desired. Yes, my mother has cancer. Peritoneal cancer to be precise. She's on her 2nd round of treatments. She's doing great thus far. Sure the chemo kicks her in the butt the first few days but after that she's perfect.

Thank you for following along this little story about my mother. I hope you've enjoyed the transformation of her wedding photo. And I sure hope it gives you ideas on your own wedding photos. Curious?
Go ahead and email some of those photos and I'll give you my opinion on my magical vision for your photos. Send them to katphotomagic@gmail.com today!

Lastly, you've experienced a sample of what your experience may be. I will work with you to make your dream photo. I will come up with a couple or so versions and you can pick the one you like and modify with your ideas too! I want you to smile and beam as you look at your new photo. The edit doesn't have to be grandiose. It can be very simple. Just let me know.

Ok here's one last look of the BEFORE and AFTER of my mother's wedding photo.

    About KAT

My philosophy is that photography should lighten up the heart and the eyes with vibrant color, light and majesty as memories flood back into the mind and soul. No cringing allowed. Only magic!
I'm a stay at home mom of our little girl! Photo retouching and restoration have always been my passion since the 1990's. When I'm not retouching I take care of my little girl, my husband, follow God and spend time with His people. All while listening to music all the time. ;-) I also enjoy playing the piano, learning to sew, eat Thai food,  lifting weights, singing hymns and trying to make my house a home.  Read more...
